Update on Section 127 Educational Assistance Programs

January 2013
Update on Section 127 Educational Assistance Programs
The fiscal cliff bill passed by Congress on January 1, 2013 (H.R. 8, The American Tax Relief Act of 2012) preserved many Bush-era tax cuts and extended many other lapsed tax provisions. Notably, section 127, which allows employees to receive $5,250 in employer-provided educational assistance benefits per year, was made permanent.
